Russ speaking on a coastal issue

Meet Russ Timpson

Russ Timpson is chosen as the Lib Dem parliamentary candidate for Canterbury!

The local champion fighting for Canterbury Constituency

We are delighted to announce that Russ Timpson will be our candidate for the Canterbury constituency in the forthcoming general election.

Born in Sydney and raised in Wickhambreaux, Russ has strong connections with Canterbury, having attended secondary school in the city.

On leaving school he joined the Royal Navy and served in submarines. He later joined the Fire Service and spent two years as a fire fighter based at the Canterbury Fire Station.

Having gained a degree as a mature student, Russ now works as a chartered Fire Engineer and has been interviewed on TV to give expert comments on events such as the Grenfell Tower fire.

Russ is married and lives in Ash. He previously stood for parliament  in 2015 for South Thanet. You can find a campaign video from that election on YouTube as well as a few where he is talking about fire safety.

It is a clear choice between Lib Dems and Labour

Lib Dem Russ Timpson can either beat the Conservatives to third place or win the seat for Canterbury.

Your local Liberal Democrat team have a track record in the Council, increasing free disable parking fees or reopening Sturry Park and Ride, we listen to you.

The Greens are not going to win here and were a distant third in 2023 May local elections.

The Conservatives are taking communities like ours for granted - they ignore local people and strip youth services of vital support.

Back Russ to beat Labour.
