The Tories are out of ideas and out of touch. Rishi Sunak’s decision to appoint the unelected David Cameron as Foreign Secretary is the latest example of their utter contempt for democracy, and for us all. The cruel, divisive and inhumane policies of Suella Braverman showed that the government's priorities are not aligned with the Liberal values we hold dear.
Now is the time to stand up for a fair, free and open society.
From the disaster of Brexit to Liz Truss’ ruinous budget, our community has been left in crisis. Ambulance waiting times are at an all-time high, the cost of living continues to climb, leaving our high street on its knees and families just about managing. The Conservatives in central government offer environmentally irresponsible policies, setting back Britain’s leading role in reaching net zero, while on Kent County Council they are slashing services for young people in pursuit of a budget deficit they created.
But there is a glimmer of hope.
This year we successfully removed the Conservatives from power on Canterbury City Council, proving that when we come together, positive change is possible. Now, more than ever, we must channel that energy and determination to rid both Parliament and Kent County Council of the Conservative Party.
But what can you do to help?
Whether it's canvassing, phone banking, or assisting with event coordination, your time and skills are invaluable to our cause. If you are unable to offer your time then your donations will enable us to hire staff, get more Lib Dem Councillors elected, and make our voices heard. Every pound contributes to ensuring liberal values influence policy at all levels of government.
Let's replicate our success in Canterbury. Together, we can build momentum that will bring about the change we seek. Sign up to volunteer and donate today to help us achieve our goal of getting the Tories out of Number 10 and County Hall!
