Cllr Mike Sole (Lib Dem) announces the first budget of the new administration : “This budget is much more than a balanced spreadsheet, it is a programme for change.

“Not just a budget of pounds and pence, but a budget of common sense.”

Thanks to the previous Conservative administration landing us in a debt of £150 million, Caterbury City Council has the largest debt size in the whole county, including Kent County Council. This means that £11 million of tax payers money is not being spent on local services but instead paying back the Conserative debt mismanagement. That means that all the money that come from parking, goes directly to servicing the debt. However, Cllr Mike Sole has brought about many items from our manifesto, that is reopening Sturry Park & Ride, increasing free disable parking from 2 hours to 3 hours and getting serious about Climate change by putting £500k to tackle climate change and the biodiversity emergency in the City. Liberal Democrats will continue to listen to you and work hard all year round for our community. Together, we can make Canterbury a better place.
