Baroness Meral Hussein-Ece confirmed as speaker for our 2025 Annual Dinner
We are delighted to confirm that Baroness Meral Hussein-Ece will be the guest speaker for our annual dinner on Friday 31st October 2025…
This May, local residents in Canterbury North and Canterbury South, chose to send Liberal Democrat candidates to KCC County Hall. Mike Sole was re-elected for Canterbury South while Alex Ricketts won in Canterbury North. Lib Dem strength at KCC went from 6 to 12 councillors after the elections on 1st May and we are now the official opposition to the new and very inexperienced Reform administration.
Mike Sole said “It’s an enormous privilege to be elected. There is a huge job to do, continuing to stand up for our area, helping residents, and getting things done, but also holding the new Reform council to account”.
Liberal Democrats also continue to deliver on our manifesto promises as part of the Canterbury City Council coalition, reversing some of the unpopular decisions of the previous administration and improving the district for residents and visitors. For example, the council has:
• Re-opened Sturry Park & Ride
• Brought back Canterbury market
• Introduced a resident car parking rate
• Acquired additional council homes
• Protected parish council funding.
